Fountain Valley Homes for Sale

With its small-town charm and big-city opportunities, Fountain Valley provides residents with everything they could ever want to live, work, and play. This community, rich in history and culture, includes the cities of Fountain, Security, and Widefield. It is a common site to see neighbors greet each other on the street and friends discussing any number of subjects.

Established in 1859, the City of Fountain is considered a diverse community with traditional small-town values. The city was named a “Millennium City” in 1999 for the reason that the community’s demographics closely match the nation’s overall profile. In 2002, the National Civic League honored Fountain with an “All-America City” award for promoting a high quality of life.

Residents can enjoy many activities at parks in Fountain Valley including basketball, soccer, Frisbee-golf, horseshoes, jogging and biking. The Fountain Creek Nature Center has several trails that wind through the wilderness, and visitors can take one of the guided tours or explore the landscape on their own. Golfers can try their hand at making par on the 18 holes at Appletree Golf Course.

Fountain Valley hosts such annual events as the Fountain Fall Festival in September and the Tree Light Ceremony in November. Residents also partake in the annual Blast Dance street festival commemorating a train explosion that occurred in May 1888. A runaway train hit a railcar of explosives in Fountain and kept politicians, who were visiting cities in search of a state capital, from getting into town.

Fountain Valley has a population of more than 44,000 people, and many residents work in the area. A variety of national retail stores have moved into this region, but the community supports many independent and family-owned businesses. The median home price in Fountain Valley is $132,000, and a wide range of housing options are available from ranch-style homes on large properties to new homes in planned communities.
